Victoria Weather | Local Victoria and Vancouver Island Conditions | CTV News VI

“We haven’t had a true atmospheric river for a while. That’ll change late tonight into Thursday. The term “atmospheric river” was first coined in a research article by two scientists, Yong Zhu and Reginald E. Newell, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1998.

For Greater Victoria, our rain shadow will keep our rainfall numbers on the low end, typical of this pattern. Other areas of the island will see some nice numbers from Thursday into the weekend. The usual spots that get the most rain will do so with this AR as well, west coast, north island, inland areas up island and the Comox Valley will get the bulk of the rain Thursday. Bands of rain will continue to flow over us through the weekend. Temperatures continue to hold at seasonal numbers will a small dip next week for a couple days.”
