No tsunami risk after pair of earthquakes off B.C. coast

There is no tsunami risk after two earthquakes struck off the coast of British Columbia early Tuesday morning, officials say.

The first quake happened at 3:58 a.m. PT, 197 kilometres west of Port Hardy on northern Vancouver Island. According to Earthquakes Canada, it had a magnitude of 4.2.

The second occurred at 5:12 a.m. PT, 129 kilometres south of Cold Bay, Alaska. U.S. authorities say it had a magnitude of 5.2 and a handful of people in the Alaska Peninsula reported feeling light shaking.

Earthquakes are common in both areas and there was no reported damage.
