Early morning fires destroy two homes in West Kelowna

West Kelowna Fire Rescue provided two photos of residential fires that broke out on the morning of March 22, 2026.

Crews in West Kelowna battled two significant house fires in less than two hours Sunday morning.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue responded to the first call, in the Sunnyside area around 5:15 a.m., a statement from the department said.

“Crews found a single-family residence that was fully involved with fire,” according to the statement.

While crews were working to contain the blaze, a second fire was reported at 6:30 a.m.

The home on Old Boucherie Road was also “fully involved” and an additional crew from the nearby Kelowna Fire Department was called in to assist.

“All occupants were able to make it out of the burning buildings. There were no injuries. Damage to both structures is extensive,” the statement from West Kelowna Fire Rescue said.

The fires under investigation, but the department said neither is suspicious and both appear to have been accidental.

“Having two significant fire events take place at nearly the same time is very rare, however it is not believed the fires are related in any manner,” a follow-up statement from the department said.
