7 arrested, drugs seized from home in northern B.C.: RCMP

Mounties in northern B.C. arrested seven people and seized drugs, guns and cash in a trafficking investigation earlier this week.

According to a news release, the Fort St. John RCMP’s drug unit executed a search warrant at a home in the 9400 block of 105 Avenue on Thursday.

“The warrant was executed safely at the residence, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals for possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,” it reads.

Police say they seized about one kilogram of cocaine, 300 grams of fentanyl and unspecified quantities of methamphetamine, MDMA and LSD, as well as three loaded handguns and $8,000 in cash.

“Police also located equipment consistent with the processing and repackaging of drugs for street-level distribution,” the release continues.

All seven people were released pending further investigation, Mounties said.

“This enforcement action highlights (the Street Enforcement Team’s) continued focus on disrupting the trafficking of drugs and the presence of firearms in our community,” Sgt. Ian Rissanen of the Fort St. John RCMP said, in the release Friday.

“SET continues to have sustained suppression of drug trafficking throughout the city where we continue to rely on the vigilance of community members, and we encourage the public to report suspicious activity so we can take action against those contributing to drug-related harm in our city.”
