46-year-old son wanted in deaths of elderly parents in Mississauga home

Peel Regional Police are looking for a man believed to have assaulted his elderly parents. The victims died shortly after being rushed to the hospital.

A 46-year-old man is wanted in the death of his elderly parents inside their Mississauga home on Thursday night.

Peel police received an assault call at a residence in the Hurontario Street and Lakeshore Road area shortly after 7 p.m.

During a news conference at midnight, Inspt. Mike Mavity said officers located a man and a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Peel paramedics previously told CP24 that both victims were taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition.

Mavity confirmed that the victims, who were 70 and 71 years old, had been pronounced dead. Their names have not been released.

The inspector would not confirm the cause of death but said no firearm was used.

Officers are now searching for Jordan Sangwin, who is the son of the victims, Mavity said.

Suspect is ‘armed and dangerous’

Police have released an image of Sangwin. Mavity said the image is from a “previous dealing” with police, but would not elaborate further.

Sangwin is described as a white male, five-foot-10, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, checkered shorts and a baseball cap.

“He is considered armed and dangerous,” Mavity said.

“We are encouraging Jordan to contact a lawyer and turn himself in.”

The circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear.

“It’s very early in the investigation. We’re still trying to figure that out as to what led to this incident,” Mavity said.

Police are urging anyone who sees the suspect not to approach, but to call 911.

“Based on the circumstances, we do not believe there’s an immediate threat to the public,” Mavity said.

“However, it is a situation we are constantly reassessing.”
