Police in Hamilton are asking two people who stopped to help homicide victim Zenin Roussel to contact them. Roussel, who was 21, was fatally tabbed on Aug. 9. Hamilton police said he was at King Street Billiard and Sports Bar on King Street West, near Paradise Road South, at around 2:30 a.m. that day when he was involved in a verbal altercation with a suspect outside after the bar had closed. They left the area separately in opposite directions, investigators said. Police say by happenstance, the two ran into each other near Main Street and Frid Street about 10 minutes later, and during that interaction, Roussel was stabbed. The suspect and the group he was with fled the area immediately following the stabbing, according to police. Roussel was found by a taxi driver in the area and was rushed to hospital but subsequently died of his injuries. Hamilton police said just before 2:30 a.m., a dark-coloured, four-door SUV, possibly a Hyundai, stopped in the area where the victim was located. They believe that a male driver exited that vehicle and tried to render assistance, while a female occupant remained inside the SUV. “The actions of these individuals may provide valuable information to the ongoing investigation, and police are asking them to contact investigators as soon as possible,” they wrote in a news release on Wednesday. The suspect, identified by police as Kyle Dumont-McArthur, 26, was arrested on Tuesday and has been charged with second-degree murder. A weapon, however, has not yet been recovered. Police said investigators have spoken to four people who witnessed the stabbing. This investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information, or the individuals described above, is asked to contact Det. Buck at 905-546-4123 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
