Toronto police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who allegedly made anti-Sikh utterances and racial slurs before stabbing a victim in the leg. The incident happened on Saturday near Queens Quay and Lower Spadina Avenue. Police say they were called to that area for reports of a person with a knife. Investigators allege a suspect approached victim and a witness during an unprovoked interaction, and made anti-Sikh utterances and racial slurs before attacking the victim with a weapon. Their injuries are described by police as non-life-threatening. The suspect is described as male and standing five-foot-six with black hair. He was last seen wearing a navy-blue, a short-sleeved jersey with the NFL “Sunday Ticket” logo on the back with white stripes running from the base of the neck, down the back, to each armpit, blue jeans with a dark grease mark on the left calf, and grey and black New Balance running shoes. This suspected hate-motivated assault with a weapon investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is asked to contact Toronto police’s Hate Crime Unit at 416-808-3505 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
