Man charged with impaired driving in fatal Toronto crash

Toronto police investigating after a woman died and a man was injured after a crash early Saturday morning (CP24 photo).

An alleged impaired driver has been charged in connection with a fatal crash in Toronto’s Keelesdale area last month.

The single-vehicle collision happened in the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Bicknell Avenue, west of Keele Street, around 2 a.m. on Oct. 18.

Police said a Ford Mustang was travelling west on Eglinton Avenue West when the driver lost control and hit a concrete pole.

A female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

In a news release on Wednesday, investigators said the driver, 29-year-old Kendy Walker, had turned himself in to police.

He has been charged with operation of a conveyance causing death while impaired, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death and failure to comply with probation.
