CBSA seizes 8 kilograms of meth hidden in food products at Toronto Pearson airport

Packages resembling protein bars are shown in a CBSA tweet after officers seized the illicit contraband.

A traveller bound for Japan has been arrested and methamphetamines seized after border officers uncovered a smuggling operation involving food products.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said the seizure took place April 18 at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

According to CBSA officials, officers seized eight kilograms of methamphetamines hidden in food products destined for Tokyo, Japan.

Images provided appear to show the drugs concealed in protein bars.

The CBSA said the RCMP took custody of the man and the drugs.
