Gas prices dropping as peace talks continue, says affordable energy president

It’s music to the ears of drivers across Barrie, and this time, it’s coming from the gas pump.

After a 10 cent per litre drop Thursday, gas prices are expected to fall another three cents Friday, according to Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy.

Diesel prices could also continue sliding, says McTeague, dropping seven cents Thursday with another five cent dip on Friday.

According to Gas Wizard, prices in Barrie Wednesday sat at 183.9 cents per litre for regular gas, 213.9 for premium and 202.9 for diesel.

McTeague says the recent drop comes as peace talks between the United States and Iran continue. “All this really has to do with headlines suggesting there is going to be some kind of a peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran,” McTeague said.

“That hasn’t happened, but markets seem to be really amused by this and they are willing to shed a lot of their positions,” McTeague told CTV News in an interview.
