Saskatchewan’s police watchdog has launched an investigation after a man suffered an injury during an RCMP arrest on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation. RCMP say officers attempted to stop a vehicle on the First Nation around 1 p.m. on Oct. 6, but the vehicle failed to stop and pulled into the driveway of a home. Officers later determined the driver had a suspended licence and was wanted on warrants. He was arrested without incident. Police say there were two passengers in the vehicle, including a man who refused officers’ requests to get out. Police say officers removed him from the vehicle and arrested him. Officers called EMS to assess the man. He was later released without charge. Police say they were later notified the man required additional medical treatment for an injury. As a result, the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) was notified and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the injury and police involvement.
