Saskatoon man notorious for spying on women back in jail after allegedly using cellphone

A Saskatoon man with a lengthy history of spying on women is back behind bars just hours after his release. Laura Woodward has the story.

A Saskatoon man accused of violating his court-ordered conditions will remain behind bars until a bail hearing later this week.

Kyle Hameluck, 37, was previously convicted of 70 incidents of voyeurism, indecent acts and trespassing at night. Police issued a public safety alert following his release.

Hameluck appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court Tuesday morning by video from the Saskatoon Correctional Centre.

He sat in front of a closed door, wearing a bright orange sweater, as Crown Prosecutor Paul Goldstein detailed the alleged breach.

Hameluck was arrested on Valentine’s Day, hours after being released, for allegedly using a cellphone with a camera, contrary to his court-ordered conditions.

His conditions also included a curfew and no contact with past victims.

Goldstein opposed his release from custody.

Hameluck declined Legal Aid and said he intends to continue working with lawyer Patrick McDougall.

“I believe I have my previous lawyer ... I’ve spoken to him yesterday,” Hameluck said.

A bail hearing is scheduled for Thursday morning.
