Two people are facing robbery and mischief charges after two separate incidents in Regina, one involving graffiti of a church. Officers with the Regina Police Service (RPS) received a report of mischief in the 1300 block of 12th Avenue on July 30, the location of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Surveillance video had captured two men spray painting the building’s front doors and concrete wall beside it. Police identified the two suspects through investigation, according to an update on Tuesday. Around 5:20 p.m. on Aug. 19, officers were called to the 800 block of Victoria Avenue for a report of a robbery. A man had told officers that two men had assaulted him while trying to steal his bag and personal belongings. Police say when the man tried to fight back, one of the suspects bear sprayed him. The suspects took the bag and fled the area, and the victim sustained minor injuries. Police say video surveillance determined the robbery suspects were the same ones linked to the mischief incident in July. The RPS robbery unit found and arrested the first suspect on Aug. 19, and the suspect was found and arrested on Aug. 20. A 25-year-old man has been charged with robbery and mischief under $5,000. He made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Aug. 20. A 24-year-old man has been charged with robbery, two counts of failure to comply with a probation order, and mischief under $5,000. He made his first appearance in Regina Provincial Court on Aug. 21.
