As much of Saskatchewan contends with the first heat wave of 2026, select regions in the southwest should also expect thunderstorm activity. At 2:33 p.m. Tuesday, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a severe thunderstorm watch — notifying the public that conditions are favourable to the development of strong winds, large hail and heavy rain. The watch area includes much of southwest Saskatchewan including the communities of Maple Creek, Swift Current, Gravelbourg and Coronach. Updates on current weather conditions can be found on ECCC’s website.
