A day after highlighting a case of a Sask. Party MLA chartering a private jet to travel across the province, the Saskatchewan NDP is claiming its not the first time he’s done so. Kevin Weedmark, the Saskatchewan Party MLA for Moosomin-Montmartre, says he paid out of his own pocket when he chartered a private jet to criss-cross the province in order to attend several commitments on Aug. 27. In a statement issued Tuesday, Weedmark said he wouldn’t have been able to drive to all government announcements he committed to that day, which included stops in Lloydminster and Saskatoon. The trip saw the plane land in Regina before returning to Moosomin, near the Manitoba border. The NDP revealed evidence of the trip Tuesday, sharing a video posted by a woman who appeared to have been travelling with Weedmark. On Wednesday the NDP cited a second video, claiming it showed Weedmark using the same private jet when he toured the Jim Pattison Hospital and Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon in August 2025. “So there’s Kevin Weedmark, there’s the aircraft, there’s the tail number,” NDP MLA Meara Conway said, weighing in on the video. “Naturally, we did our research. This private jet costs nearly $7,000 an hour, so the question we’ve asked Mr. Weedmark is very simple. Who paid for it?” In a statement issued Wednesday, Weedmark claimed again that he personally paid for the trip, and that no one from his constituency office was involved. “I organized a visit last year to Saskatoon, so local Dairy Queen owners could tour Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House and see firsthand the impact of their fundraising,” Weedmark’s statement read. “I wanted the people behind those efforts to see the difference they’re making, and to thank them for it. I covered the cost of the trip myself, and no constituency staff attended.” Conway and the NDP say they want more tangible proof that the MLA did pay for the flights himself. “So if Mr. Weedmark did indeed pay for this out of pocket, my first message is prove it,” Conway said. The NDP plan to go through MLA expense records as they become available. No evidence that Kevin Weedmark charged the flights to the government has been found so far.
