Roughriders add American receiver Rashod Owens

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have added another body to their receiving room, signing American Rashod Owens, the team announced Thursday.

Owens signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft and attended training camp with the team. He registered three catches for 25 yards in the preseason.

The San Antonio, TX product signed with the Calgary Stampeders in January 2026 and spent the early part of the season on that club’s practice roster before being released July 20.

Owens played five collegiate seasons at Oklahoma State University, where he was teammates with Riders’ kicker Alex Hale.

In 52 games with the Cowboys, Owens recorded 120 career receptions for 1,771 yards and 10 touchdowns, including a career-high 63 receptions for 895 yards and five touchdowns as a junior.

He was a major contributor in the team’s 2023 Texas Bowl win, where he caught 10 receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns and was named the game’s MVP. The 24-year-old averaged 14.8 yards per catch throughout his college career.

The signing comes in light of Saskatchewan experiencing numerous injuries to key offensive starters, especially in its receiving room.
