Two 18-year-old men are facing multiple charges following a weapons-related incident and physical altercation in Regina’s 1500 block of Retallack Street on May 7. At approximately 8:10 p.m., police were called to the area after reports of a disturbance involving multiple individuals. Information provided to officers indicated a group had been involved in a physical altercation, with weapons-related allegations. A police canine unit located a group matching the suspect descriptions. Officers attempted to arrest one male suspect, but he initially did not comply. A Police Service Dog was deployed to assist in the arrest and made contact with the suspect, biting him on the arm. The man was taken into custody without further incident and was treated at the scene by EMS for injuries consistent with a dog bite. A second man was also arrested at the scene. He was transported to hospital by EMS for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. As a result of the investigation, one of the 18-year-olds is charged with three counts of uttering threats, assault with a weapon and assault. The other 18-year-old is charged with three counts of uttering threats, assault with a weapon and assault and failure to comply with condition of a release order. Both made their first court appearance in Regina Provincial Court on May 8.
