Brandt Industries were at the Court of King’s Bench for a summary conviction appeal concerning a workplace accident from 2021. Legal counsel for Brandt said they have concerns about the trial judge’s findings and are seeking an acquittal or retrial. The Crown has also filed their own appeal on the trial. In October of 2025, Brandt was found guilty for one violation of the occupational health and safety regulation after an employee was badly injured in a forklift incident. In September of 2021, the employee got his foot crushed between a forklift they were operating and an obstacle. The worker originally told his supervisor he was trained to use the machine and was certified in the past. However, the document was never obtained by Brandt. Brandt was fine $55,000 for the incident. The appeal hearing will continue Sept. 10.
