Police pull 21 vehicles off Ottawa roads during inspection blitz

Twenty-one vehicles were pulled off of Ottawa’s roads for safety concerns during a vehicle inspection blitz in the east end.

The Ottawa Police Service says officers were joined by officials from the Ontario Provincial Police and the Ministry of Transportation to conduct commercial vehicle inspections in the east end on May 25.

A total of 55 commercial vehicles were inspected.

“With 21 removed from the road due to serious safety concerns, including defective brakes, unsafe tires, load security issues, and major mechanical defects,” police said.

“Officers also laid 36 charges related to inspection, permit, safety, and equipment violations.”
