Ottawa continues to see cold temperatures, but highs of 20 C expected for long weekend

The stretch of below-seasonal temperatures will continue in Ottawa today, but temperatures will hit 20 C for the first long weekend of the summer.

Environment Canada’s forecast calls for temperatures of 14 C today and 12 C on Wednesday, before temperatures hit 20 C on Friday.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of 19 C and a low of 8 C.

It will be mainly sunny today. High 14 C.

There will be increasing cloudiness tonight with a 40 per cent chance of overnight showers. Low 5 C.

Ottawa will see rain on Wednesday. The forecast calls for 10 to 15 mm of rain. High 12 C.

Thursday will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers. High 14 C.

The outlook for Friday calls for a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers. High 20 C.

Saturday will feature a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers. High 21 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of 19 C and a low of 8 C.

Frost advisory

A frost advisory remains in effect for Ottawa this morning but should be lifted as temperatures warm up.

“Frost may damage some crops in frost-prone areas,” Environment Canada said.

“Patchy frost is expected early this morning. Damage to plants, trees, and crops is possible. Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas.”
