Three impaired charges in three hours in Parry Sound

Three people – including one person riding an e-bike – have been charged with impaired driving within just more than three hours on the same day in Parry Sound.

The first incident took place March 31 around 8:20 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police in West Parry Sound said in a news release April 2.

Officers stopped an e-bike on Sequin Street “that was observed weaving through traffic and failing to stop at a red light,” police said.

A 38-year-old from Parry Sound was charged with impaired driving, uttering threats, having open liquor, two counts of violating probation, driving while prohibited, having improper lighting on the bike, failing to stop at a red light and failing to comply with an undertaking.

He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on April 16.

Driving erratically

Then, around 10 p.m., police on general patrol stopped a vehicle driving erratically on Oastler Park Drive in Seguin Township.

A 47-year-old from Parry Sound was subsequently charged with drug-impaired driving, failing to signal a lane change, littering, disobeying a traffic sign and driving without an insurance card.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on June 4.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for a week.

Finally, at 11:30 p.m., officers “received a call from a concerned citizen regarding a vehicle swerving all over the road.”

“Officers were able to locate the vehicle and driver at a restaurant on Church Street in the Town of Parry Sound,” police said.

A 43-year-old from Parry Sound was charged with impaired driving offences and was released with a court date of May 7.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for a week.
