Several transports collide on Highway 11 on Wednesday morning

Black ice was blamed for a serious multi-commercial vehicle crash on Hwy. 11 on Wednesday morning, shutting northbound lanes near North Bay for several hours.

Emergency responders are on the scene Wednesday morning on Highway 11, where slippery conditions led to the collision of multiple commercial motor vehicles.

North Bay Ontario Provincial Police said crashes involving several transports took place in the northbound lanes between South River and Powassan.

“Black ice contributed to the initial collision, followed by additional CMVs becoming involved,” police said on social media.

“Heavy tow crews continue working to clear the roadway.”

Northbound lanes were closed while recovery operations were underway, but have since reopened.

No word yet on whether anyone was injured or exactly how many CMVs were involved.
