A 68-year-old Sault woman has been charged with aggravated assault and being unlawfully in a dwelling house in connection with an April attack that left a victim with serious injuries. The charges were laid July 18 after officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service say they located and arrested the accused. April attack At about 6 p.m. on April 10, police responded to a 911 report of an assault at a unit within a multi-unit residential building in the 100 block of Allard Street. “An investigation revealed the accused – along with two others who were arrested and charged on April 11 – knocked on the victim’s door, forced their way inside, and assaulted the victim by punching and kicking them,” police said in the release. Police said the victim sustained serious physical injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. “The (68-year-old woman) and victim are known to one another,” the release reads. The two other individuals involved in the incident were both men, a 22-year-old and a 26-year-old, face the same charges – though the older man was also charged with failing to comply with a probation order. The recently arrested woman was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 19.
