Police in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., have charged one person after executing search warrants on Fauquier Avenue last week. Detectives, with assistance from officers with the canine unit, other departments and the Ontario Provincial Police, executed Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants in the 0-100 block of Fauquier Avenue on July 16. Substances, cash, more found During the search of the property, investigators located a quantity of suspected controlled substances, along with cash and items commonly associated with drug trafficking. “During the search, officers located and seized 104.82 grams of suspected cocaine and 29 suspected oxycodone tablets,” the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release. “The total estimated street value of drugs seized is approximately $10,772.” Police said officers also seized approximately $401 in cash, as well as weigh scales, drug packaging materials and cellular devices. As a result of the searches, a 31-year-old was charged with two drug trafficking offences and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime. The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 5.
