Ontario Provincial Police have recovered the body of a 68-year-old man who went missing while swimming earlier this week at a beach in Elliot Lake. Brian McLean was last seen July 26, when a 911 call came in at 4:30 p.m. about a missing person at Spruce Beach. The caller reported “that a swimmer had last been seen after going underwater while swimming toward a rock located approximately 150 metres east of the beach shoreline,” the OPP said in a news release July 28. Extensive search “The swimmer did not resurface.” Extensive shoreline and water searches were conducted by the OPP emergency response team, marine unit, Sault Ste. Marie OPP canine unit, drones and the underwater search and recovery unit. Police recovered McLean’s body at 5:15 p.m. July 27. “A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place in Sault Ste.
