Quebec urges travellers to shelter in place as Puerto Vallarta flights are cancelled

As violence escalates in the region of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Quebec International Relations Minister Christopher Skeete said he was concerned about the situation.

In a post on X, Skeete said the government was closely following the situation and advised Quebecers to shelter in place and to register with the Canadian Embassy to receive updates from authorities.

Air Canada has also announced it had temporarily suspended operations in Puerto Vallarta, saying it was monitoring the situation and in contact with local authorities who are working to resolve the issue.

One flight departing from Montreal Trudeau International Airport (YUL) was cancelled on Sunday, while two flights arriving from Puerto Vallarta into YUL were also cancelled.

Additionally, Air Canada is advising customers not to go to the local airport unless their flight is shown as operating on its website. The airline also said customers will be directly notified of changes to their itineraries.

Air Transat and WestJet also cancelled both departing and arriving flights to and from Puerto Vallarta into YUL.
