The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) is converting more than 1,000 parking spaces to free ones, the railway network announced Wednesday. Brossard, Bois-Franc, Sunnybrooke, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Sainte-Dorothée and Grand-Moulin stations will have the newly converted free spaces as part of an effort to meet travel habits and parking needs, the REM states. “After several months of operating the Deux-Montagnes branch, we have gained a better understanding of how our parking facilities are being used by customers,” a media spokesperson for CDPQ Infra told CTV News, which owns the lots, excluding Fairview-Pointe-Claire. “As a result, we are adjusting the parking offer at certain stations to better align with observed demand. The objective is to facilitate access to the REM while maintaining a paid parking option for customers who wish to secure a parking space when needed.” Bois-Franc station will have 152 spaces converted, Sunnybrooke 120 spaces, Sainte-Dorothée 34 spaces, Pierrefonds-Roxboro 203 spaces, Grand-Moulin 57 spaces, and Brossard 513 spaces converted. The change has already been made at most of the stations. Pierrefonds-Roxboro station will see the change on Thursday, Brossard station on Sept. 1, and Grand-Moulin station to be determined. Panama station will lose 75 free parking spaces, the REM noting that a parking lot expansion project at the station, launched in 2025, is now complete. This will take effect Sept. 3. The CDPQ added that sustainable mobility options are another way to access the stations.
