More snow before some sunshine for Montrealers on the weekend

A sunny Friday will lead to snow-filled streets overnight with a low of -8 C expected. The island could receive roughly 11 centimetres of snow between 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued snowfall warnings, a snow weather advisory and a special weather statement on Friday morning for several regions in the province north of Montreal.

As of Thursday, the greater Montreal area was expected to surpass 1 metre of snowfall for the season according to ECCC. The city last surpassed 100 centimetres of snow in December 2007.

Come Saturday morning, those in the city could also see a snow-rain mix, as the temperature moves up to a daytime high of 0 C.

Skies are expected to clear by Saturday night.

However, Montrealers will want to be well-bundled if out on Saturday night - when the mercury could move down to -20 C.

Sunday’s daytime high will be cold as well, with a temperature of -13 C expected. But mainly sunny skies on Sunday and Monday will be something to look forward to.
