Quebec provincial police (SQ) issued a Montreal man a $1,768 ticket after he was clocked going 160 km/h in a 70 km/h zone. According to the Sûreté du Québec, the driver was stopped on Aug. 29 while travelling southbound on Highway 15. The man in his 30s also received nine demerit points and had his licence suspended for seven days. The SQ said the driver may have been impaired by alcohol at the time of the incident. He provided a breath sample and could face charges at a later date, police say. The SQ reminds motorists that speeding is one of the leading causes of fatal collisions on Quebec roads.
