The Montreal Canadiens skate onto the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Sept. 29 to start the 2026-27 season. The game will be on Sportsnet in English and TVA Sports in French. Sportsnet, owned by Rogers, will still broadcast the majority of the games in Canada, but certain Wednesday night games that are broadcast across the country will now require an Amazon Prime subscription for both French and English broadcasts. Rogers sublicensed 27 games to Amazon, including seven Habs’ games in both languages broadcasting nationwide. Here are the Wednesday Prime games in question: The three other Wednesday night games are late away games against Colorado (Nov. 25), Seattle (Feb. 3) and LA (Feb. 24), and will fall under the regional broadcaster: RDS in French, TSN in English. Amazon Prime is now the exclusive long-term home of Wednesday night hockey national games in English and French. Last year, the streaming service broadcast on Mondays. It will also broadcast select Stanley Cup Playoff series in Canada, two first-round series and one in the second round. Quebecor also announced that it signed a 12-year sublicence agreement with Rogers for French NHL games airing nationwide to be broadcast on TVA Sports. This agreement includes 32 Montreal Canadiens regular season games, which is 10 more than the prior season. Last year, Rogers and the NHL announced a 12-year agreement for the national media rights to NHL games on all platforms in Canada, from the 2026-27 through the 2037-38 seasons. RDS (owned by Bell Media) has the regional broadcast rights in French for Habs games for 45 of the 84 regular-season games. TSN will broadcast regional English games. TSN/RDS, CTV News, BNN Bloomberg, and CP24 are owned by Bell Media, which is a division of BCE.
