Sun and strong winds today before showers, thunderstorms move into London, Ont.

The London area will see sunshine mixed with strong winds today before wet, unsettled weather moves in tonight and persists through midweek.

Environment Canada says fog patches dissipated this morning, giving way to mainly sunny skies. Southeast winds of 30 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h, are expected, with a high of 19 C. The UV index is forecast at 7, or high.

Conditions will change tonight as clouds increase near midnight, bringing showers and a risk of a thunderstorm overnight. About five millimetres of rain is expected. Winds will strengthen from the southeast at 30 km/h, gusting to 60 km/h. The low will be 12 C.

Showers are expected to continue Tuesday, ending in the afternoon before cloudy skies return with a 60 per cent chance of further showers. There is a risk of a thunderstorm in the morning and afternoon, with rainfall amounts between 10 and 15 millimetres. South winds will reach 40 km/h, gusting to 60 km/h, with a high of 19 C. The UV index will be 5, or moderate.

Cloudy conditions with a 40 per cent chance of showers are forecast Wednesday, with a cooler high of 11 C.

Skies are expected to clear Wednesday night, followed by sunny conditions Thursday and a high of 12 C. A mix of sun and cloud with a chance of showers returns Friday.
