A public meeting was held during the Strathroy-Caradoc Council Meeting Tuesday evening to address a rezoning application for 700 Adair Blvd. “I’m against the current proposal and I’ve stated publicly it’s two wide open,” said Grantham. “There’s a lot of unknowns, it’s a wide open proposal. I don’t think it’s the right location.” The plan originally included the possibility of the land being redeveloped into a data centre however the applicant revised the application last week, removing “Data Centers” from the list of permitted uses. “I understand the words data centre have been removed from this application but the concern hasn’t disappeared,” said Nicole Miller a Strathroy resident. Miller voiced her concerns to council saying the future of the land remains unknown. “What protections are in place to ensure future proposals with significant impacts on our power, water, noise, traffic, and neighboring communities are properly elevated before they can move forward,” said Miller. The purpose of the public meeting was to provide Council and the public with an opportunity to review the revised application and provide comments. “My only concern is that we are very vague on what the lands could be used for,” said Kevin Morrison, a Strathroy resident. “I would suggest moving forward and that council looks for specifics.” A decision on the application will be made at a future council meeting. “They need to run,” said mayor Colin Grantham. They need to run somewhere, just not in Strathroy."
