‘Some cool conditions at night’: Temperatures set to drop below seasonal

Temperatures are set to drop Wednesday with overnight lows below the freezing mark. CTV's Julie Atchison explains.

Londoners shouldn’t get too used to the summerlike weather just yet, as temperatures are set to drop over the coming days, with overnight lows below freezing expected.

According to CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison, showers will move into the region in the morning, with the main rainfall exiting the area by mid-afternoon.

Atchison says Wednesday will be a cool day, “About 10 C cooler than it was yesterday,” and those cooler temperatures will “set the stage” for a cool week to come.

Wednesday’s daytime high will reach 9 C, whereas London’s average temperature for this time of year is 16 C.

Thursday will see a mix of sun and cloud and a 30 per cent chance of showers, with a daytime high of 9 C.

Overnight lows will dip well below the seasonal norm of 5 C beginning on Thursday, with a low of –1 C.

The end of the workweek and the weekend will be much of the same Atchison says, with a mix of sun and cloud and a 30 to 40 per cent chance of showers. The daytime high will hold steady at 9 C, while the overnight lows will hover one or two degrees below freezing.

“So, some cool conditions at night. Early as we head into early next week, temperatures slowly start to recover, but still well below normal daytime highs anywhere from nine to 11 degrees [Celsius] as we head into Monday,” Atchison said.
