Ontario Provincial Police will be at select grocery stores Saturday helping address food insecurity across the province. The event is called ‘Operation FULL PLATE’ and it is a one-day food drive looking to help support local food banks and address food insecurity. “It’s a time when people can give back to our communities throughout our food banks by donating non-perishable goods and toiletries,” said Sgt. Marty Salliss of the OPP. In the West region, officers will be at 14 different locations including Dorchester, Exeter, Goderich, Mitchell, Tillsonburg, Petrolia and Forest. “Food insecurity continues to affect individuals and families in communities throughout Ontario,” OPP said in a release. “Operation FULL PLATE provides an opportunity for OPP Auxiliary members and the public to work together in support of local food banks and the people who rely on them.” Hundreds of volunteers will be at these locations to help collect essential goods. The food drive runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. West Region locations
