Grand Bend bridge work a week behind schedule, will reopen in July

The Ontario Street Bridge in Grand Bend will open about a week later than anticipated.

The Municipality of Lambton Shores provided an update on the multi-phase project saying all bridge structural concrete work is now complete after the pouring of the north approach slab, however, the project team now expects the bridge to be fully re-opened to traffic on July 3.

Project officials said the delay from the June 26 date is required to make sure all critical work can be completed before the bridge is fully reopened for the summer.

The rest of the work that still needs to be done includes parapet/wing walls, curbs, sidewalks, base asphalt, line painting, and traffic signal adjustments.

Any remaining finishing work will be done in the fall, getting underway after Labour Day.
