A trial date has been set for former City of London councillor Mariam Hamou. The former Ward 6 councillor was charged in November with extortion and harassment following an investigation by police in St. Thomas. As required by the Community Safety and Policing Act, the St. Thomas police were called in to investigate the London-based complaint to ensure that was not a conflict of interest, The trial will have two separate dates — Feb. 26 and March 2 of 2027. Shortly after the charges were laid, a ban on publication was placed on any evidence surrounding the charges or the identity of the complainant involved in the matter.
