Charges laid after February crash that killed Huron County senior

Charges have been laid following a crash in February that claimed the life of a Huron County resident.

Just before 9 a.m. on Feb. 17, police, fire and paramedic services responded to North Line, north of Hydro Line Road in Huron East, after receiving a report of a head-on collision.

Emergency crews found a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle, both heavily damaged.

Police say the driver of the passenger car was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to a London hospital. A passenger in the car and the driver of the pickup truck were both treated for minor injuries.

On Feb. 20, the driver of the passenger vehicle died in hospital. The victim was an 84-year-old resident of North Huron.

The 36-year-old driver of the pickup truck has been charged with careless driving causing death and failing to properly wear a seatbelt.
