KidSport Rowing Challenge 

April 15 - June 1

VRS Boathouse 

Challenge yourself, your friend and colleagues to learn to row, work as a team and enjoy the beaty of Elk and Beaver lake, while fundraising for KidSport Greater Victoria. Participants will learn the basics of the sport of rowing or build on already existing experience. From movements, safety and boathandeling to teamworking skills. The program will prepare crews for a skills event, that includes balancing, steering and turning the boat, and a timed distance event over 500m. All of this while fundraising for KidSport Victoria’s to give more children have access to sport, and the values and skills that sport teaches them.

Join us for a special night of celebrating the community’s generosity, featuring delicious catering and fine local beverages, live music, an auction and a chance to double all donations thanks to the generosity of Honourary Event Chair Andrew Beckerman and the Viveka Foundation. In 2017, the inaugural Homecoming gala raised over $90,000 to support vulnerable people living in poverty. In 2018, the 50th Anniversary Homecoming Gala raised an additional $140,000! This year we hope to exceed this amount, with the proceeds going to build homes, lives and community for vulnerable people in Greater Victoria.

Starting at the beautiful Windsor Park in Oak Bay and winding its way through the heart of Oak Bay's shopping district the course then loops out and back along the scenic seaside route of Beach Drive. The course is certified.

The 16th Annual Broadmead Care Charity Golf Tournament is a fundraiser that raises much needed funds for WWII, Korean War and modern day veterans. Support helps cover the costs not covered by Government funds that aid in the purchase of much needed specialty equipment like overhead lifts, mattresses and beds, and programs like spiritual care. Also the extras, like capital improvements, to the Lodge to create vibrant spaces where that feels as much like home as possible.

Kidney Walk for kidney transplantation and organ donation is a fundraising community event to raise funds and celebrate hope for people living with kidney disease. The Kidney Walk is one of the largest volunteer driven fundraising events for The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch. Last year more than $317,000 was raised to better the lives of people living with kidney disease.

More than 300,000 children, teens and adults live with type 1 diabetes in Canada. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body attacks and destroys the insulin producing cells made by the pancreas. With no known cause and no cure, there is no way to prevent this disease and as a result approximately 50 people are still diagnosed every day in Canada. But our current momentum has led to research breakthroughs that are helping people with type 1 live longer and healthier lives. NHL hockey player, Max Domi, is in his second year as JDRF’s National Spokesperson, a role through which he is helping raise awareness and funds for research. Diagnosed at age 12 with type 1 diabetes, Max knows first-hand the challenges of living with this disease. Through the Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes for JDRF, Max tells his personal story to inspire young people living with type 1 to follow their dreams.

The TD Victoria International JazzFest is a ten-day music festival featuring the jazz, blues and world music of local, Canadian, and internationally acclaimed musicians. The longest running multi-day professional music festival serving audiences on Vancouver Island, TD JazzFest offers its devoted audience a wide scope of programming comparable to much larger festivals in significantly larger urban areas. Since its inception the festival has been presented and produced by the Victoria Jazz Society.
