Oaklands Sunset Market

June 27- August 29

Oaklands Community Association - 2827 Belmont Ave

The Oaklands Sunset Market is every Wednesday and is a free, weekly event featuring over 50 local food growers and producers, artisans, crafters, and body products, with the vendor mix changing each week. Every week features live music, a beer garden and a selection of food trucks. There are several themed market nights over the season including Kid Vendor Day, Bike Fest, Funk Fest and Pet Appreciation Day.

 

Play in the Park

July 3- August 31

Every weekday evening through July & August, join Panorama staff from 5:30-8:30pm for some free summer fun for the whole family that includes interactive play, face painting, group games, and of course, inflatable fun on our giant 50’ obstacle course! New for this summer, there wil be a few featured activities & special guests including Games 2U Victoria, Family Fitness, our portable skate park, story walks and a community library station! A monthly activity schedule will be released prior to the start of each month with exact dates for these great activities

 

Music in the Park

Music in the Park is a great community event with local musicians, opportunities for dance and a bit of food truck tasting too! Music in the Park runs Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. Check out the website for an up to date list of performers. Inspire Health's Walk in the Woods

July 22

Mount Doug Park

Join us for a sunny Sunday stroll through Mount Doug Park for our first annual Walk in The Woods event raising funds for InspireHealth’s supportive cancer care services. All ages and fitness levels are welcome to participate! It's a fun filled day planned to raise funds and awareness about Inspire Health’s supportive cancer care services. Inspire Health is a not-for-profit providing programs and services to enhance the quality of life, health and well-being of people living with cancer and their families. As a non-profit organization, we need to raise approximately $1 000 000 annually through fundraisers like this to continue to offer our services free of charge at all three of our centres.

 

Parksville Beach Festival Sand Sculpting Competition Exhibition

July 13- August 19

Parksville's Community Park 

The 2018 Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibition will feature an exciting theme: “Wild Things – from here to the Galapagos”. This five week long Beach Festival also includes an art show, buskers and free concerts each weekend. A portion of the gate proceeds is donated for community projects and to philanthropic groups.

 

 

Egypt: The Time of Pharoahs

May 18- December 31

Royal BC Museum Step into a time when civilization grew along the Nile, pyramids dotted the skyline and people believed gods walked among us. With more than 300 original artifacts, some 4,500 years old, this exhibition covers all aspects of ancient Egyptian life. Be among the first in North America to see it.

 

 

Victoria Symphony Splash

August 5

Victoria's Inner Harbour

Join over 40,000 people in Victoria’s Inner Harbour to watch your Victoria Symphony perform on a floating stage. Enjoy the marquee event of the summer! Entertainment begins at 12:00 on the picturesque Legislature steps and spreads to the Family Zone before culminating on the barge at 7:30 pm with Music Director Christian Kluxen and the Victoria Symphony. The concert concludes with the beloved grand finale performance of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with fireworks

 

Dragon Boat Festival 

August 10-12

Victoria's Inner Harbour

The 24th annual Victoria Dragon Boat festival features incredible canoe competitions, tradition and culture all in the beautiful Inner Harbor of Victoria! The Victoria Dragon Boat Festival is an event inclusive to everyone. With the excitement of the competitive dragon boating racing on the water, to the live music and cultural acts on the land, this weekend promises to create lasting memories for everyone in attendance. It is our goal to bring the community together through the great sport of dragon boating, and we cannot wait for you to join us August 10th-12th at the 2018 Victoria Dragon Boat Festival.

 

Victoria's Largest Air Show

August 11-12

Michell Airfield 

Join Santa Bear and volunteers from Santas Anonymous at Michell R/C Airpark for Victoria’s Largest Little Airshow. Hosted by the Victoria Radio Control Modelers Society, the airshow is open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4:30pm, and includes a concession, 50/50 raffle, children’s activities, and free parking. Admission is by donation, and all proceeds support Santas Anonymous. Bring your lawn chairs, sunscreen, and sun umbrellas, and enjoy the show!

 

Cadboro Bay Festival

August 12

Gyro-Cadboro Park

Enjoy an afternoon at Gyro - Cadboro Park, with a variety of hands-on activities, bouncy castles, information displays, arts and craft stations and food and fun for the entire family. The newly upgraded playground, beach setting and free family activities will entertain the kids for hours.

 

RCMP Musical Ride

August 18-19

Fred Milne Park, 2249 Sooke River Rd

Sooke Lions are hosting the world renowned Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride on August 18 & 19 in Sooke with proceeds going to Tour de Rock, Cops for Cancer.

Representing a colourful tradition and ceremony through the horse and scarlet uniform, the RCMP Musical Ride provides people, young and old, with a part of the heritage and national identity of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.  The troop of 32 horses and riders whirl and perform cavalry drills to the choreographed music making this an iconic spectacle not to be missed. All proceeds will go to Tour de Rock which funds pediatric cancer research and sends sick children and their families to Camp Goodtimes each year.
