Police seek 20-year-old northern Alberta man charged with attempted murder

Police in northern Alberta are looking for a man they’ve charged with attempted murder following an attempted shooting late last month.

High Prairie RCMP said in a media release Tuesday they are looking to arrest Deshawn Laboucan after an incident on March 31 at a home in Atikameg, located about 100 kilometres northeast of High Prairie.

Police said Laboucan fled the scene in a pickup truck with three other people after the attempted murder that evening around 9 p.m.

Officers responded to a report of it and found the pickup truck, whose driver then fled north on Highway 750.

During the pursuit, police said the people in the pickup threw objects at them, including fireworks. Shortly after, the pickup stopped and the four occupants fled it. Police ultimately found and arrested three of them, two women and one man.

Each of the four have been charged with six firearms offences. Laboucan, a 20-year-old resident of Little Buffalo, was additionally charged with attempted murder with a firearm, discharging a firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
