Spruce Grove launches rebrand that ‘truly reflects’ the community: mayor

The City of Spruce Grove launched its rebrand Friday ahead of its 40th anniversary.

Spruce Grove launched its new rebranding Friday ahead of celebrating 40 years as a city.

This is the city’s first brand refresh in 20 years. The new logo and brand draw inspiration from “vibrant parks and green spaces, a warm community spirit, and an active, welcoming environment,” according to the city.

The logo features spruce trees inside a spruce cone.

The mayor says the new brand “truly reflects” the story of the city.

“This community is full of incredible volunteers that stand up in all sorts of different ways. We have a very active community in sports and culture and arts, but people really thrive on that sense of community,” said Jeff Acker, Spruce Grove’s mayor.

“So the last couple of terms, council has really put in a focus on building that sense of community. It’s a growing community.

“(It) also positions us as a welcoming destination for business, investment, and economic opportunity. It highlights Spruce Grove as a place where people, families and businesses can all grow and thrive together.”

In the last 15 years, the city has doubled in population and sits at around 40,000. Acker says the city still wants to keep growing and welcomes more people to move there.

The new branding will be launched in phases, first appearing online and slowly transitioning to buildings, signs, vehicles and equipment.

Sunday marks the anniversary for the city and residents can gather at Heavy Metal Place for family-friendly activities and celebrations beginning at 3 p.m.

Some of the activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, live music and a fireworks show.
