A Peace River man is facing charges after police say he threatened to shoot members of the public as well as police. Mounties responded to a call about an impaired driver on Friday. Police believed he had a shotgun with him. According to a news release officers tried to stop the vehicle but the driver took off. A tire deflation device was deployed and then police rammed the vehicle and took the driver into custody. An RCMP police dog was injured during the ramming and arrest, RCMP said. The suspect suffered minor injuries from a dog bite he got during the arrest. Police say a shotgun was found in the back of the man’s vehicle. A 41-year-old man was charged with two counts of uttering threats, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, flight from police, and resisting police. He was released on conditions with a court date on Oct. 5 in Peace River.
