Police searching for thief, witness after violent robbery

Police are investigating a violent robbery in downtown Edmonton in late May.

A man tried to steal something from a delivery van parked at a loading dock in the area of 102 Street and 104 Avenue at around 3:30 p.m. on May 26.

The driver chased him and the thief pulled out a knife to stab him before he punched the driver and ran away, the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said on Thursday.

The delivery driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are searching for the suspect and a man who witnessed the robbery and attack. EPS believes the witness, who was not involved, recorded video.
