Local businesses defrauded of more than $50K, police searching for man

Edmonton police are looking for a man they say has defrauded businesses of more than $50,000.

Police say the man intercepted cheques sent by three businesses through the mail, altered them and deposited the money into an account created with a fake ID.

He is also accused of using some of the money to buy a “large ticket item” from a fourth business.

The man was seen on multiple security cameras. Police are asking anyone who recognizes him to contact EPS at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
