Amid a trade war and inflation, most businesses are being forced to raise the prices of their products in order to stay afloat. But a local brewery has opted to take a different approach in an effort to attract more business. Arcadia Brewing Co., located in central Edmonton’s Manchester Square, has lowered the price of the pints by $1. “We know in our daily lives how expensive life has become,” said owner Darren McGeown. “I can’t just sit back and wait for customers to come here. “When times are tough, people like to get together over a pint, and I want to make it a bit more accessible for people to do that.” While McGeown knows there is a risk to lowering prices, especially in today’s economy, he is hopeful the promotion will encourage new and existing customers to pay a visit. “We just want to create an awesome atmosphere and vibe for everyone in the community,” he said. “If we can supply that, and people can come in and save a little bit on a pint, that’s a win-win.” The $1 discount applies to both full and half pints of beer at Arcadia’s tap room, which McGeown says will be for the “foreseeable future.” With files from CTV News Edmonton’s Nahreman Issa
