Commonwealth Stadium hosted its last musical act of the year Thursday night. Dave Grohl-led rock band Foo Fighters performed for 43,000 people for three hours. “The line he used was, ‘I hope you’re wearing comfy shoes,’” recalled 100.3 The Bear host Jess Jackson. “They were there, entertaining and playing a hard and sweaty rock show for three hours. It was pretty incredible.” She said the band played many of Foo Fighters’ greatest hits, but also covers of songs by the members’ former groups, like One Headlight by the Wallflowers, with whom keyboardist Rami Jaffee used to play. “They played a little bit of One Headlightand the place erupted. It was really, really cool. And I didn’t know some of those things, so that was really, really interesting,” Jackson told CTV News Edmonton. “(Grohl) knows what he’s doing. He is the rockstar.” The band occupied the stage until three minutes before their 11 p.m. curfew, leaving after a round of fireworks. Commonwealth Stadium will only host the Edmonton Elks for the rest of 2026. The next scheduled concert is Luke Combs in May. The stadium’s director, Heather Seutter, said hosting world-class artists carries important economic and cultural benefits. “We are thrilled to see Edmonton continue to thrive as a premier destination for major concerts and top-tier entertainment,” Seutter said.
