Edmonton weather: Warming trend settles as January ends on a mild note

It's starting to warm up in Edmonton. Cory Edel has your Tuesday forecast.

Mild air starts to push in from the west over the next few days.

In Edmonton, we’ll get above -5 C for the first time since last Tuesday.

Temperatures should hit -3 C or -4 C today and Wednesday. (We hit 0 C on Tuesday of last week).

So, after being colder than average for four of the last five days, we’ll be average or above average for the rest of January.

In fact...temperatures should get above the freezing mark on Friday/Saturday to close the month.

That warm air sticks around through the first week of February with daytime highs expected to be in the 2 to 8 C range through the first five to seven days of February.

Morning temperatures will slip into the -10 C to -15 C range Wednesday/Thursday. But, after that, our lows climb into the -5 to -10 C range.

No significant precipitation expected in the Edmonton area through the rest of the week. We’ll see what happens Monday; there could be some wet snow or a rain/snow mix (confidence is pretty low at this point).

Elsewhere, some snow is likely in the High Level and Fort McMurray regions Wednesday and there might be some showers or mixed precip in southeastern Alberta Wednesday.
