Edmonton weather: Big warming trend moves in this week

According to Cory Edel's forecast, Edmonton has a warm up in its near future.

We broke out of the deep freeze in Edmonton over the weekend.

Temperatures climbed back into single digits on Sunday and we’ll get into the 0 to -4 C range for highs Tuesday/Wednesday in the city.

There’s a little bit of a cool down coming for today, though.

Another push of arctic air is mainly going to affect eastern Alberta and Saskatchewan. But, we’ll probably only get to around -10 C or -11 C in Edmonton. So, slightly cooler than Sunday’s -7 C high.

After today, an upper ridge pushes in from the west and that’ll have us sitting above 0 C by late this week.

There’s a bit of uncertainty with just HOW warm we’ll get by the end of the week.

I have daytime highs in the 1-4 C range for Friday and in the 2-7 C range for Saturday.

It’s possible we slightly warmer, especially Friday. But, those ranges look most likely to me (at this point).

Bottom line: cool today, mild Tuesday-Thursday, and then warm Friday-Sunday.

Precipitation outlook: There’s a chance of a few flurries in central and north-central Alberta tonight. Nothing more than a dusting is expected.

No precipitation through the rest of the week in Edmonton and area.

Northern Alberta gets another chance of snow on Friday.
