Assault charge laid in case of man missing since 2002

Police have laid an assault charge in the 24-year-old case of a missing man.

Kevin Wade Moroz, 54, of Two Hills County, was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon against Gerald Geake, who has not been seen since 2002.

According to investigators, the two men knew each other and the assaults Moroz is accused of happened in April and May of 2002.

Geake was reported missing to Edmonton police in the spring of 2003, when friends realized he had not been heard from since May 2002.

He was 37 years old at the time. His disappearance is considered suspicious.

Geake’s last known appearance was in south Edmonton. He is believed to have left a home with Moroz and another person.

Edmonton Police Service (EPS) on Wednesday renewed its call for the public’s help in the case.

“Although considerable time has passed, we’re hopeful someone may have information about Gerald’s activities after leaving the residence,” historical crimes detective Bryan Kincheloe said in a press release.

“Even the smallest, seemingly insignificant memory may assist our investigation, and we encourage them to come forward.”

In May 2002, Moroz drove a black 1992 GMC Sierra and may have been seen in the Avonmore neighbourhood.

Geake was 5′10″ and approximately 160 pounds when he disappeared. His blonde hair was cut in a mullet and he had blue eyes.

Police say he may have appeared injured or incapacitated to anyone who saw him before he disappeared.
