Air Canada will offer starting in June a direct flight from Edmonton to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey, which serves the New York metropolitan region. The flights will depart Alberta’s capital at 6 a.m. and land at 12:30 p.m. local time four times a week from June 1 to Oct. 17. The airline says it is the first time Edmonton has been connected to New York City since the pandemic and called it a “significant win” for northern Alberta. “This route opens the door to one of the world’s most important business, financial and cultural centres, creating new opportunities for tourism and trade while making it easier for people and businesses to connect,” said James Jackson, Edmonton International Airport’s vice-president of air service and business development, in a Friday press release.
