The Edmonton Marathon has given an update to racers after organizers mismeasured the race’s distance, overshooting by nearly 700 metres. Some participants who ran August’s race were frustrated after learning they may not be able to use their time as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon if it was adjusted. The Boston Athletic Association has agreed to accept all qualifying times that weren’t adjusted to make up for the length error. “This means 92 participants reached a Boston Qualifying time,” said a statement from Edmonton Marathon’s race director Tom Keogh Wednesday. “The non-adjusted times have affected 13 participants, and they will be contacted individually.” Edmonton Marathon is still working with course certifier Athletics Canada to review the accuracy of future races. A post event survey will be available to participants in the coming weeks.
